Hannah's Home
Orphanage

Hannah’s Home is a unique orphanage concept in the heart of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  It started with the compassion of Hannah, a radiantly joyful woman who opened her home up to street children and began caring for them.  Since then she has recruited other house-moms and together they have taken in over 230 orphans off the streets of Ethiopia.  They provide food, shelter, education, love, and a safe place to play and gather in community.  SENAI plays a strategic part as we find funding and connect international and domestic businesses, individuals and churches to this ministry.

What makes Hannah’s Home different than so many “orphanage” concepts is the hub-and-spoke model in which it operates.  They have a central compound that serves as a safe haven for all the kids to play, and learn computers, sewing, and other vocational skills.  The children live in individual homes, within walking distance of the compound.  Each home holds 8 to 10 children with a house-mom or house-parents providing shelter, food, and love.   All the children then attend local schools, which are within walking distance from their house and the central compound.

Future Vision:
Senai wants to buy and build a child-friendly central compound for all the homes that are in existence.  Currently we are renting the compound Hannah’s Home uses, but with the rapid growth in Addis Ababa, increasing rates for rent will eventually push Hannah’s Home out of the current compound.  Instead of relocating all the children in all their houses to an off-site location, we would prefer to purchase and build a compound that will meet their needs for years to come.

Ways SENAI can help you engage in Hannah's Home:

1) Give towards Hannah’s Home Orphanage Project:   $25, $50, $100 as one-time gifts or monthly support.

2)  Sponsor a home for 8-10 children.  $800 per house/per month

This can be done through a family, business, community, neighborhood, church, or small group effort.  Senai will provide pictures, video and communication between the orphanage and the sponsor, and a house will be named after your group, family, or business.
